SENIORS

Important Notes:

  • Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Beau #2

Gender:

Male

Age:

10 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

A gentle and lively fellow!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Beau is doing great at his foster home. He likes to be near his people while they are home but does fine being left alone in the kitchen when they are out. He is friendly with everyone he meets, including other dogs and cats. Beau can easily navigate stairs and enjoys fetch and walks. In sum, Beau has proven to be an ideal houseguest. He is very well behaved and is comfortable both in his crate or his dog bed. Ate the young age of 10 he loves to fetch and chase. He exudes a calm demeanor both on leash and off. Beau is good with cats; but great with people. He is a good supervisor and will follow you around while you are doing house work or outside chores. His happy place is outside where he can observe the wildlife, play with his favorite toys and bask in the sun. Beau is a sweetie!

Duke #2

Gender:

Male

Age:

10 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with limited steps, fence negotiable

A true gentleman!

Handsome, dark chocolate Duke #2 is ready for his forever home! His owner passed away not too long ago, and unfortunately no one could take Duke in.  He is having an absolute blast with his fosters, who take him for at least 4 walks a day (and sometimes he cons Foster Mom into taking another walk!). He has lots of energy for all the new, fun things in life. Duke has excellent house manners and is very well behaved. Duke is very cuddly but he also enjoys just lying on his bed while his humans are working. If you are looking for an eager to please, cuddly, sweet pup, Duke’s your guy!

Jacey

Gender:

Female

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence and another dog

Happy girl just finding her way!

Sweet, gentle Jacey has really started to come out of her shell. She’s still a bit timid, but she’s such a happy girl. When the mood strikes, she’ll join in playtime; and when she’s done, she’s perfectly content relaxing in her crate or curled up in her bed. She travels beautifully in the car and is truly such an easy, delightful dog to have around. Her favorite thing is playing with her best friend, the resident dog! They love to wrestle and run about in the yard. Jacey is so excited to see her friend every morning. She will need a home with another dog who is just as playful and confident as her newest friend. Although she may never be a super cuddle-bug and will startle if you move too quickly in the house or yard, she is a gentle, kind soul who wants so much to be loved, she's continuing to work on being brave in order get the attention she seems to crave. Jacey is considered hospice due to the malignant growth in her mouth, but someone forgot to tell her. Her zest for life is contagious! Her tail does not stop wagging! Jacey is such a sweet, happy companion who just wants love and gentle pets from her patient people.

Nova #2

Gender:

Female

Age:

12 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving home with few stairs

Beautiful Stellar Girl!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Nova #2 is an absolute sweetheart! She is very low maintenance and really enjoys a soft spot. She has a couple dog beds she has an affinity for. She sleeps a lot of the day and then peacefully through the night on her dog bed in the bedroom. She really enjoys wandering in the yard and loves that the front yard of her foster home is fenced so she can wander and lounge and check out all the new smells, returning when she is satisfied all is well. Nova is good with other dogs but can get knocked over by the younger ones, so she will do best in a home without rambunctious pups. This lovely lady also needs a home with very few stairs, as she has age-related arthritis. She looks for a reward after being a really good girl (which is very often) and takes her treats very gently. Nova is just a sweet, easy-going, older girl looking for love and a soft spot to lay her head.

Rudolph

Gender:

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence and only dog in the home

Rudolph the Chocolate Lab!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Rudolph is a super sweet senior. Happy is an understatement for this guy! He is very enthusiastic about his training work and is doing very well. Among other things, he’s working on "sit" and "wait" for his food, which he LOVES! Overall Rudolph is a very food-motivated, willing dog who picks up on new skills quickly! His "vocabulary" is improving and he seems to understand stay, enough, release, wait, drop, down - to name a few. His fosters report that he is a beautiful, easy-going, big boy with a sweet smile and constantly wagging tail. He did extremely well on the car ride to the house and has displayed very nice house manners. He will do best in a quiet home. He is good with cats and not reactive toward dogs on leash or behind a fence but would prefer to be an only dog, so he can be the center of your attention, of course. Rudolph is always checking to make sure he knows where his fosters are, so he can settle down next to them and enjoy a snooze. He LOVES his stuffed toys and parades them around the house. Could you be this sweet, lovable guy’s new family?
