SENIORS

Important Notes:

  • Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Boomer

Gender:

Male

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A special, loving forever home

Boom! Love at first sight!

Boomer is a sweet, handsome fellow who can't wait to shower you with affection! He is a former breeder who is beyond excited about finding a loving home with a very special family. He shows no signs of being sick, but it was determined at his vetting that he has an inoperable mass on his adrenal gland. Though chock-full of love and life, he is considered a hospice dog. Also, he will not be neutered. Boomer lived in a dog run most of his life, so he'll need some help learning about the finer things, including house manners and walking on a leash. However, just because he's an older gentleman, doesn't mean he can't learn new tricks. He's very smart and eager to please! Boomer doesn't quite understand toys, but he's very happy to interact with you. If you want to play with toys, he's more than happy to give it a try. If you have a place in your heart for this happy, affectionate boy, and you're ready to be blown away by his love and gratitude, come meet Boomer today!

Mischief

Gender:

Female

Age:

10 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical or underground fence, only dog in the home

Merry Mischief!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125

Mischief is showing more confidence in her foster home. She walks great on a leash now and stays in a "heal" position most of the time. She needs one moderate walk each day to keep her nicely exercised. Mischief is living it up at her foster home! She adores visitors and is a happy girl. She lets you take items from her mouth and ignored a cranky dog while on leash. She rarely barks, and ignored the loud party next door (more than foster mom!). Mischief continues to defy her name and is a sweet girl, enjoying life in her foster home.

Smokey

Gender:

Female

Age:

11 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home

Easy going lady

Smokey is an easy-going lady who wants to have a place to get attention, rest and get some good food. She was probably an outside dog who didn't get a lot of attention and TLC before, but is getting it now that she is with Lab Rescue! She likes being out in the yard where she roams around watching what is going on with the pups in the other yard. She has found some stuffed toys that she likes to sleep with. She is a sweetheart who likes everyone she meets. She is underweight and doesn’t have much of an appetite. We are trying to put some weight on her with micro meals and an appetite stimulant. Smokey would like a home with a family that has a yard and that will give her the love and attention she so deserves.
