SENIORS

Important Notes:

  • Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: Dogs & puppies currently approved for townhomes are noted as such. Apartment dwellers can only adopt apartment-approved puppies; we rarely have adult dogs who are approved for apartments. These policies are in place because many of our dogs come from rural areas, where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed. To limit stress and ease them into new experiences, we initially limit placement to single-family homes. As we get to know their preferences, we may expand their placement to include townhomes.  Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Carla is a sweet, little brown bear! She loves people, being around them getting cuddled and petted. She is right at the door with the other dogs, super excited and hopping around, when Foster Mom comes home from work. One of Carla’s favorite things is napping, interspersed with blasts of playtime with Foster Mom and the resident pups. She's such a good girl with great manners and a sassy personality. This independent kind of gal knows who she is and what she likes. She's hoping a family will come find her and give her a loving home soon.

Della is a sweet, polite, and low-key lady. Her fosters report that she is one pretty gal and has the softest ears. She is loving all the holiday treats, especially cheese! Delle enjoyed going for a walk with the resident Lab and she pranced the entire way (when she wasn't smelling all the good sniffs)! Are you looking for a low-maintenance gal who just wants to sit by you and be petted? Look no further as Della is your girl!

Sweet senior loving life

Shadow is a cute fun-sized senior at 53lbs, with lots of spirit and a very gentle demeanor. He gets along with the resident canine divas and enjoys making his own fun with a tennis ball. He is the picture of joy bouncing the ball, chasing and repeating. He has some cute behaviors, like dragging the toy basket to the center of the room and tipping it over to enjoy all the toys at once. He is a very bouncy boy and seems to be enjoying life out of the kennel. We wondered why a yellow dog would be called Shadow, but we quickly figured out it’s because he follows his humans everywhere. Shadow walks beautifully on leash, like some kind of obedience school honor student, and has great house manners.
