SENIOR LABS

Important Notes:

  • Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Bean & Hopper

Gender:

Female Bonded Pair

Age:

14 years and 10 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home

Double the sweetness!

Bean & Hopper are a wonderful bonded pair who are fun and enthusiastic and love everyone! Don't be fooled by the sugar on their faces. It just shows their sweetness. Hopper is a yummy caramel, and Bean is a tasty licorice jelly bean. They are best suited to a quiet home, as they have not been exposed to a busy household. And while they get along well with other dogs, they would prefer to have all of the attention to themselves. These very special and sweet girls deserve to be spoiled and loved!

Brady

Gender:

Male

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home

This guy wants to join your bunch!

Brady is a very sweet, blind, senior who was found tied to the fence of a North Carolina shelter and is very happy to now be in a loving foster home. He rode calm and quietly from the shelter to the vets' office and is very gentle. He did great meeting foster's resident labs. Brady has great hearing and will follow fosters around the house. He just loves to be petted! Blind isn’t necessarily an impediment for dogs. Brady is adapting to his new surroundings very quickly and is already comfortable enough to nap on the floor. Whatever his past, this boy is as sweet as can be. Wouldn't you just love to have him snuggling and napping in your home?

Ghirra

Gender:

Female

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical or underground fence

Happy smiling girl

Ghirra is always happy to meet you and comes up with a smile on her face! She may not have a lot of attention or care before she came into Lab Rescue, but she's making up for lost time as she loves to be petted and given treats. She isn’t interested in retrieving—she will go over to see what it is but that’s it. Ghirra would love a family that will give her lots of TLC and has a yard that she can explore and get some exercise. This beautiful chocolate lady is ready to snuggle with you!

Hash

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home

#Happy Hash!

Hash is a fantastic house guest and true gentleman with the cutest frosted paws and face and super-soft fur, just calling for lots of petting! He is an absolute sweetheart and promises to keep the couch warm for you if you’re gone, although he would truly love someone who is home most of the day to dote on him. Hash is an astute squirrel chaser, expert snuggler, and keen supervisor of all activities of his foster family. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and even gave one of the kitties a big lick when they first met! Hash has the cutest little skip in his step when out on walks too. We could go on... Hash is just a perfect pup, with lots of love to give. He cannot wait to go to his forever home!
