All Remaining 2020 Adopting Events Have Been Cancelled
With concern in mind for the safety of our adopters, volunteers, and community, we are cancelling the Lab Rescue LRCP adoption events scheduled for the remainder of 2020. The Rescue continues to receive dogs who will be hoping to find their forever homes, so we encourage our adopters to work with their Adoption Coordinators to make arrangements to meet the dogs at their foster homes. Of course, we ask everyone to use good sense about visiting with one another. Prospective adopters who were planning to visit us at an adoption event can start the adoption process by completing an application at www.lab-rescue.org/adopt.
We hold an Adoption Event each month, alternating locations between Virginia and Maryland. Interested adopters can join us at these events, meet the participating dogs, and hopefully go home with a new member of the family.
Because the events are often very popular, we have several guidelines that make them run smoothly and make it easier on you as an adopter. Please read on to learn more about these events and to ensure that you have everything you need to join us at an Adoption Event.
These events highlight dogs suited for homes with children aged 10 and older. Families with younger children should submit their Adoption Application and work with an Adoption Coordinator to identify an appropriate dog and visit with that dog at his/her foster home.
All members of the family should attend the event, including other canine members of the family (no cats, please).
If you have already completed an application:
Bring a printed copy of your application with you. You should have received it via email after it was submitted.
Please let your Adoption Coordinator know that you are planning to attend the event. In the days prior, they can help guide you towards attending Labs that may be a good fit. If they cannot be at the event, they will let the attending ACs know that you will be there.
If you are waiting to be matched with an Adoption Coordinator, you can still attend. An Adoption Coordinator will complete your interview at the event and then work with you to find the right match.
If you have not completed an application:
Please do! It will speed the process up once you arrive and it will allow you to meet dogs at the event more quickly.
If you come to the event but have not completed an application, then we will ask you to complete one and then conduct your adoption interview. You will also be required to pay the $25 application fee. This entire process can take some time and the events themselves are only 2 hours, so we highly recommend completing your application ahead of the event.
