AVAILABLE LABS

Important Notes:

  • Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Presley

Gender:

Male

Age:

1 year

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home, can climb a chain-link fence

Can't help but fall in love with Presley

Presley found himself at Lab Rescue earlier this year, in need of a little extra love and support. Now, after spending some time with one of our trainers, he is doing much better and is ready for his forever home. He is crate trained and can be left alone in one for short periods, and will sleep in a kennel during the day. Skills like 'leave it,' 'stay,' and 'place' are all improving so much. We would say that he is doing well on recall, too, but the truth is it's hard to get him far enough away from you to practice! He really just wants to hang out with his person. Overall, he's an affectionate boy working hard to gain confidence and be the best pup he can be. He can't wait to find an experienced family who is looking for a good boy who wants to please.

Sirius

Gender:

Male

Age:

1 year

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Fun not serious!

Gorgeous Sirius is silly and sweet goofball, if there ever was one. He was great entertainment at the shelter and appropriately (and affectionately) nicknamed 'the derp'. His foster mom reports that he is adorable, affectionate, friendly with dogs and people, and loves playing with his Lamb Chop toy! Just a typical young Lab full of fun, love, and curiosity, He has a metal rod in his left rear leg, and though it does not seem to bother him, over-exercising and excessive jumping should be avoided. Sirius really enjoys sofa snuggles and walks. He rides great in the car and is more than happy to be your cruising buddy. A smart cookie, he is well behaved in the house and likes to follow Foster Mom wherever she goes. This sweet boy will steal your heart the minute you meet him. Sirius will be a fun, loving addition to a very lucky family.

Sookie

Gender:

Female

Age:

3 years

Good with:

Kids 8+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with limited steps and a. physical fence

Especially sweet!

Sookie is so incredibly sweet and grateful. Her biggest challenge has been being paralyzed in her hind legs since birth, but she has been working really hard on getting stronger. With area rugs, she cannow  take several steps at a time. She scoots around or uses her wheels, and she can go very fast! Sookie may never walk normally, but that hasn’t stopped her. She is getting stronger every day, is able to stand, take a few steps, and joyfully scoots around the yard with her furry friends. This asolute sweetheart is incredibly mellow for her age. She LOVES food, loves to explore the yard, loves belly rubs, loves to play with the other dogs, and loves to snuggle next to you or a resident dog. She sleeps through the night and chills or plays with the resident dogs during the day. Diaper changes are a breeze. She knows the drill and stands still while you change it. She’s our eternal toddler — diaper changes and all — and she is so happy to be alive! She is a total sweetheart who always works around her challenges, and her adorable little head tilt will melt your heart. Sookie is ready for her forever home. If you believe in the magic of giving a special needs dog a chance and. have room in your heart, she will show you that love truly conquers all. If you wish more information about this truly special girl, please contact your Adoption Coordinator.

Spooky aka Rocco

Gender:

Male

Age:

5 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

His name is Spooky but he's only sweet!

Spooky/Rocco is an easygoing, affectionate companion who has made tremendous progress in foster care. While he can still be a little unsure in some situations, his confidence grows every day. He now happily greets visitors to his foster home with tail wags and gentle kisses, and it's been a joy to watch him blossom. Rocco is looking for a family that understands confidence is built through patience, consistency, and trust. He still appreciates a little guidance when something feels uncertain, but he continues to make incredible strides. He's also learning that he doesn't have to be responsible for making all the decisions—his people can handle that! With calm, confident leadership, he has improved tremendously and continues to do better every day. Rocco is house and crate trained and has wonderful house manners. He gets along well with other dogs, has done well meeting the cats in his foster home, and enjoys being part of the family without being demanding. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who has already come so far and is ready to keep growing with the right family, Rocco is ready to meet you. He's a truly wonderful dog who simply needs someone willing to believe in him as much as his foster family already does.

Star

Gender:

Male

Age:

3 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home, fence negotiable. If there is a fence, must be 6 ft or higher.

Shining Star!

Star has had a tremendous two weeks at training. He's an active dog who needs an active adopter who can meet his exercise needs throughout the day with playtime. He will do best in a home where he is not left for a long work day. He loves other dogs and has learned how to make good choices interacting in play group. Star doesn't need another dog, but if there is another dog in his new home, it should be a female of a similar age and energy level. Star has an intense play style, he's very focused, and wants to please his handler. He will need an adopter who understands how to use training as playtime! This is how Star most effectively burns his mental and physical energy. Star is crate and house trained and has excellent house manners. His obedience skills are top notch, and his trainer tells us if you meet his mental stimulation needs with playtime and training, he's an easy guy! Star is happy, friendly guy; he's so affectionate and gentle taking food.

TJ

Gender:

Male

Age:

1 year

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home

Cute as can be!

TJ could be short for Trader Joe's, TJ Maxx, the TV show TJ Hooker, The Junior, or any other number of things. We don't know since he was a stray to the shelter and he's not saying much. We just know he’s a silly, goofy, handsome pup in search of loving home. Best one that is looking for that puppy energy - two walks per day will not be enough for him; he needs plenty of playtime, exercise, and stimulation. If you can offer that, you will be getting an awesome, fun-loving companion in return! TJ is waiting for his family at the kennel. He had a lovely outing with a volunteer. She reports they took a several miles walk and he did well on a front clip harness. He met a new human friend and gave a nice Lab lean. He was only mildly interested in the squirrels and birds. He needs an active home where he can run and chase a ball to his heart's content, and a family ready to integrate him into their activities. He seems to love water - even splashing in a water bowl was entertainment for him. He's so curious and interested in all the goings on, he can't wait to find himself a home where he can be a part of all the action. This friendly, sweet boy is just waiting for his family!

Age:

1 year

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Big and Beautiful!

Thunder is a sweet boy looking for an active family with whom to continue exploring the world. He has been demonstrating his excitement with zoomies at his foster home. He’s a sweet boy, with lots of energy and young-dog joy who hasn’t yet had much in the way of training. But he's working on that. This fun guy takes treats gently and is eager to please. Foster Mom is working with him on things like keeping all 4 paws on the floor and knowing what things are appropriate to put in his mouth. He likes the beach and car rides and loves being with people. Thunder would love an agility class or basic obedience with his person. He's looking for an active adopter, committed to working on his training so that he can shine! He’s so excited about his future with his loving family!

Trident

Gender:

Male

Age:

4 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Sweet boy!

Trident is a handsome and sweet boy who was a little sad at the shelter after being left there - so they kept him in the office, which he loved. He is now in a foster home and this handsome beast has proven to be a delightful foster! This sweet boy is fully housebroken, takes treats gently, loves affection, and gets along well with the resident Labs. He has been left loose in the home for several hours at a time with no issues. A friendly fellow as soon as he came through the door. He came to us right away for pets and follows us everywhere in the house and outdoors. His transporters report that he travels really well. He is a little shy of the food processor, blender, and hair dryer, but just walks away calmly, does not act crazy! Trident has it all; great looks, a kind heart, and a sharing spirit.

Twilight

Gender:

Female

Age:

3 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats

Needs:

A loving female-only forever home with a physical fence and another dog

Brave pup expanding her horizons

Twilight’s love of the outdoors offered a great opportunity to test her progress via a long weekend at the beach. She did amazingly well! The circumstances were ideal for her: female-only, with doggie companions and lots of time outdoors. While she is still a shy girl who startles easily, Twilight (who answers to “Squid”) was happy and spirited on the trip. She moved around the entire beach house freely while keeping an eye on foster mom’s whereabouts. She warmed up quickly to a female guest after outdoor introductions, and she loved the guest’s dog, too. She walked miles on the beach each day with her vacation pack and had an endearing way of pulling up close to her doggie pals for neck nuzzles as if to say, “Isn’t this fun?” She loved the sand and jumped right into the waves. With a little more exposure, this little farm mama will swim! She is house- and crate-trained and rode great in the car for the 3-hour trip. Twilight’s beach weekend showed that, in the right space and with consistency and routine, she won’t need much assistance to go with the flow.
