  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Kuma

Gender:

Male

Age:

3 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence where he is the only dog

Looking for love!

Handsome Kuma is a wonderfully affectionate young guy who loves everyone he meets and greets them with a wagging tail and a hopeful look! He’s incredibly smart, food-motivated, and loves to learn. This fun-loving, energetic young pup needs an active home where his people can keep up with his abundant energy. He would love a fenced back yard to chase squirrels and a porch where he can curl up with his human to watch the world go by. He is inquisitive and attentive, making him a great training partner and companion. Affectionate Kuma will reward you with lots of love and cuddles. Kuma does great with routines. He loves to walk the neighborhood each morning and now that he is familiar with the route and the dogs he encounters along the way, he hardly pulls at all. He sits very nicely and just observes things when asked to. He loves puzzle toys and chasing after balls. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and a big personality, Kuma might just be your perfect match.

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Beautiful Fox Red Sweetheart!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Lacey is looking for a loving home! This former farm momma is retired from breeding after 6 litters--her last was May 2025! Lacey was a gentle, doting mother who took wonderful care of all of her puppies. However, she is very much looking forward to retirement and some me time! Lacey is a sweet and affectionate dog with an incredible disposition. She is gentle, with an exceedingly soft mouth, loves to cuddle and equally loves praise and positive reinforcement. And she loves it when you talk with her! Lacey is smart, curious, open to training, and after only a week, has made exceptional progress in walking on a leash. She loves playing catch and is full of life! Our experience with former breeder dogs is that they are so gentle and grateful and she is for sure. Lacey is an English Lab, so she is a bit more square and stocky than other Labs you might see. This pretty lady is looking forward to learning all about having a family of her own and exploring toys, soft beds, and more! If you need a lotta love in your life, come meet Lacey today!

Male

Age:

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home

Electric personality

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Sadly, Lightning's owner passed away and, since none of the family wanted him, he was surrendered to the shelter. He has been in a foster home since coming into Lab Rescue, and it’s reported that he’s a velcro pup with great house manners. Though the comforts of a loving home seem a bit new to this affectionate gentleman, he’s happy to learn. He put his paw on the dog bed and jumped back, as if he didn’t know what that squishy thing was. He has no desire to get on the furniture but enoys laying on the floor next to his human or by the front door watching the world go by. Lightning doesn't know what toys are (yet), but loves cow ears. If he's not hungry, he’ll bury them in the yard, going back later to dig them up. This low-key guy is not afraid of thunder storms or going out in the rain, but doesn't understand getting dried off. Lightning is a snuggle-bug and always wants to be by his person. He's enjoying learning about the fun things in his new life and would love to light up your world with his sparks of joy. Won’t you give him a chance?

The world of sweet Markie and Lil Joe continues to get better everyday. There has been tremendous positive change for these two over the last few months. These two currently reside with a foster who runs a doggy daycare, and they absolutely love the other dogs. They greet the humans at the gate, but their true desire is playing with their four-legged friends when they get a chance. Their foster says they settle down well and have a nice demeanor. Markie (nicknamed CiCi) and LJ (nicknamed Bubba) aren't super in your space snugglers, but they will sleep close to you. Their gorgeous eyes that used to be full of fear are now full of curiosity and understanding. Their next owner will spend years lost in those eyes!I Wouldn't you like to share your love and your home with this delightful duo? The reward of trust will melt your heart!  🖤

Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Maximum cuteness!

Max is quiet-natured, gentle, and sweet. This young guy has made incredible progress since first arriving as a shy, shut-down stray. With patience, structure, and the company of friendly dogs, he’s truly blossomed into a happy, affectionate boy who loves to play and be part of the pack. He has warmed up to people and actively seeks out petting now. Max adores other dogs and would love a confident canine friend in his new home to help him continue to build confidence. He’s a smart, sensitive, and thoughtful pup who just needs a little patience as he continues to learn the world is a safe and fun place. With just a little time and love, he’s going to be an incredibly loyal, loving companion to one lucky family.

Murphy

Gender:

Male

Age:

4 years 6 months

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical or underground fence

Mild-mannered Murphy

Murphy is a happy dog who is a little shy around men he hasn't met but is good around women. He warmed up to the nice man at the kennel the second time he took him out. The key is to go slow at first and then offer him a lot of attention. He likes treats and takes them gently. Murphy has not been interested in retrieving yet but he enjoys chewing and carrying a Nyla bone. He rides nicely, looking over the center console or laying on the seat to watch the world go by. He enjoys being out in the yard with the other Lab Rescue pups. He has nice manners and loves to be you, but Murphy thinks he should be in a home rather than the kennel, and we told told him we can fix that.

Pete

Gender:

Male

Age:

10 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home (fence negotiable, no e-fence)

Plucky Pete!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Pete is such a trooper. This super chill, lovable guy has been settling well into his foster home this month, and is now looking for the loving forever home he deserves. He's an easy-going fella who loves human attention and loves to follow Foster Mom around. She says he’s so incredibly sweet and happy…such a champ. Since Pete has arthritis in his knees and some issues with his back, Foster Mom takes him on shorter walks or lets him stroll in the back yard, both activities that he greatly enjoys. On his walks, he is well behaved and does not pull. Foster Mom also takes him to swim therapy (see his video). He can tackle a few stairs but would do best in a home with few or no stairs to go in and out, and he his house-trained. Pete has not shown much interest in other dogs, but he absolutely loves people. Mostly, he finds fun in sniffing around the back yard and hanging out with his humans! Given his disposition and desire to be close, you won't find a better listener on the internet!

Rudy

Gender:

Male

Age:

8 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence and only dog in the home

Handsome chocolate dude

Rudy is a big, strong, super energetic, very playful boy. He's friendly, and smart, and has been working on many skills in his time with his trainer. He needs a home with humans ready to give him the time and activities to expend his energy. Don't let his age fool you; he's got Lots of Energy! He needs a fenced yard with room to run, and adopters looking for a running/hiking/rollerblading buddy. He loves a car ride, and is doing well on a leash following the commands with his handler and ignoring distractions. He's enjoyed the company of several visitors at training, and greets them enthusiastically. Rudy is also so food motivated that he'll be a very happy participant in his continued training. He gives full body wiggles which you can't help but love. He's house- and crate trained. He can get over excited playing with toys - they are just so cool!; a short rest in the crate helps him calm down and get ready for the next adventure.

Sam #2

Gender:

Male

Age:

6 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Sam I Am!

Sam #2 is a happy, goofball of a dog with a passion for fetch and play. He has shown a joy for retrieving that will outlast his person's desire to throw; but when that is done, Sam is an enthusiastic cuddler. He loves his car rides, treat time and (did I mention?) playing fetch. If there's water outside on the ground for him to drink and play in, or a hose to tackle, then he loves it! Sam gets along with the resident dogs, but is mostly indifferent to them. He can entertain himself by sprinting around the yard or playing with his ball while his fosters are busy nearby. He really seems to prefer people for their pets, their scratches, and their ability to be leaned on. Sam has proven to be very smart and eager to please. If you are looking for a strong, silly dog that walks well, eats well, fetches REALLY well, and cuddles well, Sam may be the perfect fit for you! Sam has diabetes insipidus (NOT the type of diabetes that requires insulin) that is well-controlled with his current medication regimen of pills. He takes meds three times a day, and his foster family reports it's been easy to manage. Sweet Sam is dreaming of a home to call his own with an active family who (of course) loves to play fetch and cuddle!

Sassy

Gender:

Female

Age:

8 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home

A special girl

Sassy is a sweet and pretty girl who was surrendered to the shelter with her K9 housemates. Another rescue saved her from the shelter and placed her with a temporary foster while they looked for another rescue to take her. They fostered her with several other dogs and she was great with them. They said she was a wonderful houseguest. Sassy is house trained, and great on leash and in the car. She really loves people the most. She ignored the cats whenever they were around so she may be good with cats. This sweet girl has an inoperable tumor so is considered a hospice case according to Lab Rescue standards. She doesn't know it though and would love a family who will care for her when the time comes.

Scotchy

Gender:

Female

Age:

8 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home

Affectionate butterball!

Delightful Scotchy is looking for a golden day! This lovely, affectionate girl is a former breeding mama. She has escaped that life in search of a soft couch and loving family to call her own. Scotchy has spent her whole life outdoors, sleeping and spending a big part of the day in a shed with dog kennels inside. She was a wonderful mama, but hasn't had the chance to really learn what she loves to do. Her new family will have the delight and honor of discovering all that with her! At her age, we imagine she might enjoy leisurely walks, maybe car rides, and definitely loving on her humans. Scotchy doesn't have much indoor experience, so leash-walking, stairs might be new to her. With love and patience, we think she'll pick things up quickly though. Scotchy is good with other dogs (including small dogs--lived with a mini poodle), but should not go to a home with cats, as she typically chased them at her previous home. If Scotchy is the golden delight you need in your life, come meet her today!

Sookie

Gender:

Female

Age:

2 years

Good with:

Kids 8+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home

Especially sweet!

Meet Sookie – the sweetest little fighter you’ll ever meet! ❤️ Sookie lost the ability to use her back legs at a young age, but that doesn't bother her. She is happy as can be, a whiz on her wheels, and can stand up for short periods of time with assistance. Caring for Sookie is easier than you might think. All she needs is a quick diaper change routine, some exercises to strengthen her back legs, and lots of love! We’ve discovered she has an absolute obsession with tennis balls. She’ll happily chase them in her cart or “retrieve” them during floor time – her joy is contagious! She loves to play and snuggle with her foster’s three resident dogs, sleeps next to Foster Mom while she's at her desk, and her adorable little head tilt will melt your heart. Sookie is ready for her forever home. This is one determined girl. If you want a very special and loving girl, please consider Sookie. She will show you that love truly conquers all. 🐾💛 Sookie has been working on strengthening her back legs and sometimes stands for a few minutes on her own. She is a love to have around, full of kisses and showing us her belly so we can rub it. If you have it in your heart to care for a disabled dog, please consider Sookie.

Spooky

Gender:

Male

Age:

5 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Spooky isn't spooky at all

Spooky is a very sweet boy. He is a little shy and timid in new situations, but he does warm up with attention, pets, and cuddles which he loves. Spooky does okay on leash.  He is currently in a kennel seeting and  is very scared and not fond of all the noise and hustle bustle there. Spooky is great with other dogs. He is a quiet, polite car rider and is keeping his run clean at the kennel More on Spooky as we get to know him better.
