Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.
-
Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Presley
Gender:
Male
Age:
1 year
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Grab the peanut butter!
Presley got to leave the shelter and go on an outing to the park and walk the trails. Once he got into the car (a newish thing for him), he settled nicely and was there for the ride. He walks pretty well on leash and really enjoyed sniffing along the way. He met a few people on the trail and gave polite tail wags and was happy to get some pets. After his walk, he was ready for a pup ice cream stop. We don’t know how they knew at the ice cream shop, but they put peanut butter on his serving and he let us know that is his favorite topping! Presley has lived outside pretty much the entire year he’s been alive, so it was a little strange to him to spend all day inside at the boarding place. This winter, this is something he is very willing to get used to.

Rocky #3
Gender:
Male
Age:
1 year, 3 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical or underground fence
Happy-go-lucky Rocky
Rocky is a big happy dog whose tail never stops wagging. He loves to be with people and enjoys being petted. Rocky takes treats gently and as a reward will demonstrate his excellent "lab lean". He has a good nose, and enjoys hunting for treats. Rocky is very good at retrieving, and loves playing with other dogs outside. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he'll be your best friend. Rocky is learning the sit and stay commands and is also working on his leash manners. He does better on a leash with an Easy Walk harness. In short, Rocky is a typical young lab who wants to please his person, wants consistency and expectations set so he can meet them, has a huge heart and would love a home where he will get lots of love.

Ruby #2
Gender:
Female
Age:
9 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence and another dog in the home
A real gem!
Ruby has made steady progress since arriving in foster care. She has learned the daily routine and now confidently goes in and out of the house with the other dogs without needing to be corralled. Early on, she required gentle herding into smaller spaces for leashing and transitions; that is no longer necessary. Ruby prefers yard time for exercise but can walk on a leash when needed and does so politely without pulling. She’s overall very quiet and well-mannered in the home. Socially, Ruby is very dog-oriented. She plays well with the other dogs, is always happy to see them, and consistently chooses to stay near them. She enjoys playing in the yard, follows her canine companions closely, and would do best in a home with another friendly dog. Having a confident canine buddy helps her feel secure and brings out her best self. Currently, she is fostered alongside Max #3, and the two have done very well together - Ruby takes social cues from Max, and Max continues being his confident self. They could be a wonderful "together" placement for someone looking to adopt two dogs! Overall, Ruby is a quiet, gentle, dog-social puppy who will thrive with patience, consistency, and a canine companion to show her the ropes.

Rudolph the Chocolate Lab!
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.
Rudolph is a super sweet senior dog, and happy is an understatement for this guy! He loves a good butt scratch and a sniff around the yard. He is a strong guy, so a fenced yard over leashed walks is recommended. He is good with cats, not reactive on leash or behind fence towards dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog, so he is the center of your attention. He does not want the shenanigans of other dogs. Rudolph is kennel trained and is clean and quiet in the kennel. He loves a good puzzle toy and will carry stuffed toys around the house like a prize! He has not displayed any resource guarding, and so far he has pretty good house manners too! Rudolph knows sit, down, come, leave it, and wait!

Sam #2
Gender:
Male
Age:
6 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Sam I Am!
Sam #2 is a happy, goofball of a dog with a passion for fetch and play. He has shown a joy for retrieving that will outlast his person's desire to throw; but when that is done, Sam is an enthusiastic cuddler. He loves his car rides, treat time and (did I mention?) playing fetch. If there's water outside on the ground for him to drink and play in, or a hose to tackle, then he loves it! Sam gets along with the resident dogs, but is mostly indifferent to them. He can entertain himself by sprinting around the yard or playing with his ball while his fosters are busy nearby. He really seems to prefer people for their pets, their scratches, and their ability to be leaned on. Sam has proven to be very smart and eager to please. If you are looking for a strong, silly dog that walks well, eats well, fetches REALLY well, and cuddles well, Sam may be the perfect fit for you! Sam has diabetes insipidus (NOT the type of diabetes that requires insulin) that is well-controlled with his current medication regimen of pills. He takes meds three times a day, and his foster family reports it's been easy to manage. Sweet Sam is dreaming of a home to call his own with an active family who (of course) loves to play fetch and cuddle!

Sampson
Gender:
Male
Age:
2 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A living forever home. Fence negotiable if energy level will be met.
Looking for his Delilah!
Handsome Sampson is a very loving, sweet dog who wants to fit in and loves to snuggle. However, he does not appear to understand his size. He is a very athletic and strong dog, who could potentially clear a 4+ foot fence if he wanted to. He has very typical 2-year-old Lab energy and weighs 85 lbs. (could gain a few more). He loves toys and balls and will gladly chase a ball…but doesn't always want to give it back. He’s a great car rider. He settles down quickly and generally sleeps. Sampson is very smart and learns quickly. He needs an experienced dog owner who has the understanding, time and energy to spend with him while he learns. His forever person or family will have an amazing Lab in their life!

Sirius
Gender:
Male
Age:
1 year
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Fun not serious!
Sirius is a gorgeous, silly, and sweet goofball if there ever was one. He is a typical young lab full of fun, love and curiosity. He was great entertainment at the shelter and appropriately (and affectionately) nicknamed 'the derp'. He walks better on an EZ walk harness, which is a great tool for learning leash walking skills. Sirius is a smart cookie and will take well to training. He does have a metal rod in his left rear leg, and though it does not seem to both him, over-exercising and excessive jumping should be avoided. He rides great in the car and is more then happy to be your cruising buddy. More on this handsome guy once he's in a foster home - if you're interested in meeting him, don't wait to reach out to your Adoption Coordinator!

Sookie
Gender:
Female
Age:
2 years
Good with:
Kids 8+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Especially sweet!
Meet Sookie – the sweetest little fighter you’ll ever meet! ❤️ Sookie lost the ability to use her back legs at a young age, but that doesn't bother her. She is happy as can be, a whiz on her wheels, and can stand up for short periods of time with assistance. Caring for Sookie is easier than you might think. All she needs a quick diaper change routine, some exercises to strengthen her back legs, and lots of love! We’ve discovered she has an absolute obsession with tennis balls. She’ll happily chase them in her cart or “retrieve” them during floor time – her joy is contagious! She loves to play and snuggle with her foster’s three resident dogs, sleeps next to Foster Mom while she's at her desk, and her adorable little head tilt will melt your heart. Sookie is ready for her forever home. Sookie had so much fun around the holidays. She played with some doggie friends who came over and spent time in the yard, her favorite place. Her back legs continue to get strong. Many times she will eat her meal standing up while using an elevated bowl. She really is an awesome creature and incredibly sweet is one determined girl. If you want a very special and loving girl, please consider Sookie. She will show you that love truly conquers all. 🐾💛

Sophie is so sweet!
Sweet Sophie is a happy pup who likes to be close to her humans for any pets she might receive! And if you do give her good scritches she will do a little dance. She is starting to play with toys and will even bring them back sometimes. Treats are a favorite, and she takes them gently. She also enjoys car rides - every one is a new adventure! Sophie would like to meet a family that will give her love, attention, and training - they will be rewarded by a loyal companion!

Spencer
Gender:
Male
Age:
1 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Fit to be King!
Spencer is a sweet, handsome, lovable Lab who is believed to have been a breeder dog. He was found on a rural property with Tracey and Kate, 2 other Labs, that he seemed to know quite well. Tracey is also available for adoption. Spencer is working on adjusting to a new life and quickly learning that leashes, thresholds, and tile floors can be your friends that take you to great places! He does wait to go outside to do his business and has not had any accidents. Spencer is taking all this newness in stride and adjusting well. Everyone that's met him says he is an absolute sweetheart and we couldn't agree more.

Spooky
Gender:
Male
Age:
5 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
His name is Spooky, but he's only sweet!
Rocco/Spooky has been coming out of his shell and thriving in a stable home environment with steady routine! Now, this boy is much more confident — and that confidence turns into a dog who is outgoing, friendly, and socially engaged. He plays well with the other dogs in the home, fitting right into the pack. At home, he's a real socialite! He'd prefer a calm home where his confident personality can be the star of the show, and where he can be a bit of a homebody. He does well on leash and is learning to bring his confidence built inside to public spaces. Overall this boy is sweet, friendly, and capable, and will make a wonderful companion for someone who can help him continue to shine.

Sterling
Gender:
Male
Age:
6 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Gorgeous Guy!
Handsome Sterling is a loving, very enthusiastic guy who has been described as a puppy in a 6-year-old body. He greets everything in life with gusto. Sterling is the most cuddly dog in his fosters’ home. He’ll follow them around, become a kitchen speed bump, a couch foot warmer, and even pre-warms the bed at night. He loves to play with the other dogs but needs to be watched with older dogs, as he sometimes plays with a bit too much enthusiasm. He struggles a bit with greeting people calmly, but this gregarious guy is working hard to improve his manners with each new interaction. With the right tools and commands, he is a rock star on leash, able to walk calmly past other dogs and people and listen to commands. He recently went to the vet and did so well walking in and seeing other dogs. If you’re looking for a home security system, he’s a great “alarm” dog, gleefully making sure everyone knows when a potential new friend is coming up the driveway. Sterling wants to be his best boy and has been working hard on his training. He can be a bit stubborn, but repetition is the key to success, and now that he knows the expectations he continues to succeed. He is excited to find his forever home and is dreaming of someone who embraces his quirks and is willing to continue with his training, being patient yet firm with him. They will be rewarded with an amazing best friend.
