Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.
-
Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >
-
Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Delightful Daisy!
Daisy is a spunky girl who loves the outdoors. She is used to being around other dogs and having access to a backyard. Daisy came back to Lab Rescue after her previous adopter had to go into assisted living. She was very loved and part of the family. Daisy is housetrained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and sleeps on the couch or a dog bed. Ethel
Gender:
Female
Age:
1 year 3 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Cute as a button!
The ideal adopters for Ethel should be an active person(s) who will include Ethel in activities that will further her training and stimulate her mind. She’s an active, playful girl with young dog energy and intelligence. That physical activity, whether that be play, tug, or walks/jogs with her human, needs to happen every day. Ethel has started to learn to swim at the beach and seems to really enjoy playing fetch in the water. She also loves a good chew toy with a soft bed. Ethel has been through quite a few changes in her short life and will do best with her humans home more than not. Ethel is cute as a button, and a family ready to commit to this little nugget will be rewarded with sweetness and personality for days.

Fiona

Age:

Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Friendly Fiona!
Fiona is doing great with her foster family! She will benefit from a less busy area as she can get pretty excited on walks with cars and trucks; she likes to bark at them. Fiona is eating lots of fruits and vegetables at breakfast and dinner. She gets along very well with the resident dog and they love to play, especially tug of war. For her age, she has plenty of playtime energy and enjoys the canine company. Fiona is very smart and likes everyone including young kids (10+) on her walks.

Fisher
Gender:
Male
Age:
7 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with few or no steps
Friendly Fisher!
Fisher is a sweet, laid-back pup. He came to LRCP after a rough set of circumstances but has started to shine (quite literally)! His coat is a beautiful mahogany that shines in the sunlight. Fisher walks well on leash, but being a friendly guy, might pull when he sees a friend he wants to greet. He's always a little hurt when a person walks past and doesn’t stop to pet him. Fisher does not move quickly, but he does move purposefully toward whatever scent lights up his nose. He loves meeting new people and new dogs! He’s friends with all the neighborhood small dogs and has a crush on a 2-year-old Golden Retriever. He absolutely loves going on car rides but needs a little boost and also prefers limited or no steps in his home. He is a creature of habit and has a very accurate internal timer. For instance, he knows TREAT TIME is 8:30 pm, no later than 8:45! If his people are not paying attention he will remind them and lead them to where his giant Milk-bones are stored. After devouring his cookie, he is pretty much ready for bed – goes into the bedroom, settles down, and sleeps through the night. In the morning, he is always very enthusiastic about his day ahead and would love his very own person or people to share it with. Fisher is a happy-go-lucky boy who just wants to live, love, be loved, and play. He loves hanging out and being cozy, so if you like to be cozy too, Fisher could be your guy!

Gideon
Gender:
Male
Age:
3 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Sweet chocolate chunk!
Gideon is a big, sweet, chunk of chocolate who is looking for a new home! This larger-than-life fellow is looking for a family that can handle a big boy and help him lose a few pounds. Gideon is incredibly affectionate and enjoys being with his people. He knows a few cues like sit, stay, lie down, come, away (not take something from your hand), and his specialty, "gimme some" which is two high-fives followed by a nose bump! Gideon enjoys retrieving but is still working on some of the finer points…like dropping the ball. He ADORES swimming and would love a home that will take him regularly, or better yet, has a pool. Fun-loving Gideon can get into a little mischief around the house, but he’s a smart boy and eager to please. Gideon loves a good car ride, is not afraid of the vet or vacuum, and he likes to howl with the fire truck sirens! If you need a delicious hunk in your life, Gideon could be the guy for you!

Goose #4
Gender:
Male
Age:
11 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical or underground fence
Silly Goose!
Goose is a very friendly pup who loves to get attention, be petted, and give kisses. He is happy to meet you and if you happen to have any treats that's even better. Goose has an old injury to his right front leg causing him to limp and to carry it after he has been playing hard for a while. We have asked our orthopedic specialist if there is anything that can be done to repair it He was an inside-outside pup his fur is a little sun burnt and rough but that will fix itself as he is now inside and has a soft bed. We will continue the job of spoiling him with TLC and getting him a good home. He likes to play with toys and balls which he retrieves but doesn't bring them back. He is good with other dogs and has a blast playing with them. Goose would love an active family that has a fenced yard and has time and energy to give him the exercise and training he needs. He knows basic commands and is house trained.

Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Jaunty Jethro
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIORS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS ONLY $125.
Jethro is hoping he will have a rags to riches story! His recent story is sad as his owner passed away and a neighbor was coming to feed him. But now that he's come to Lab Rescue, Jethro knows his Beverly Hills is just around the corner. Jethro is proving to be a very happy camper at his foster home while he awaits a forever situation. He is a fantastic house guest that does not require a crate at any time. He loves the outdoors and does very well walking on a leash. Jethro maintains a youthful exuberance despite his age. He has a great energy level that can bring joy during play, and peace during calm. He does love a good nap after play, as do we all. The foster for this positive canine reports he has both a happy bark, and a resting smile. With that combination, how can Jethro not brighten up an adopters day? He needs a home with limited steps for those old man joints. He likes to walk around and explore outside. He's a friendly, very-good-boy who will make some family very happy. With loving care from a new family, Jethro will become a delicious chocolate anyone would crave!

Julie
Gender:
Female
Age:
8 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home (fence negotiable)
Sweet 'n Spunky!
Beautiful Julie is unbelievably sweet and quite spunky for her age. She was found by a good Samaritan who took her in while she looked for her family. With no luck, she reached out to Lab Rescue through one of the local shelter volunteers. While Julie was with her finder, she showed them what a wonderful house guest she could be, totally house trained and non-destructive! Julie had polite introductions with the resident dogs but seemed much more interested in what the hoomans were doing. She is the same at daycare — she likes the dogs but loves the humans! Her bark is super cute, and sounds like a seal. When she gets really excited, she may let out a howl! Julie loves going for walks, and does well on leash. She also loves her car rides. Her only request is that when you feed her, that you place a tablespoon of wet food on top of her dry — she knows what she likes!

Keira
Gender:
Female
Age:
10 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence and another dog
Special lady!
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.
Keira is a sweet gal who deserves the happiest forever home. While Keira is initially shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly, especially if you have treats! She's really good with other dogs and cats. Inside, she has good house manners, but our girl is still working extending her time between potty breaks, a solid routine is making a dramatic difference. She is fine when left for about 4 hours (a mid-day dogwalker has been very beneficial for her) and she sleeps through the night. She'll do best in a quiet low-key home in a rural/quiet neighborhood with a fenced yard. Our sweet Keira will definitely need a confident canine companion as well. She walks nicely on a leash but needs a home with no steps or very limited steps. Keira is really a lovely girl with a sweet loving demeanor. Because she had a malignancy removed on her foot, she is considered a hospice dog.
