Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.
-
Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Gabby
Gender:
Female
Age:
1 year, 5 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical or underground fence and another dog in the home
Pretty as can be!
Gabby is a sweet girl who loves to be with you to get attention, especially if you have treats. She likes to play in the yard with other pups and will chase toys thrown to her, with some side games of keep away. Gabby is good on car rides and hops right in and settles nicely. She needs to go home with another dog as she has never lived alone. She’s really a good girl so give her a call! She has been to training and knows sit, come, wait (at doors), down and up (get in cart).

Female
Age:
9 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Georgia on my mind...
Sweet Georgia is an adorable little pup looking for her forever home. She can be a little shy when she initially encounters something new but will quickly realize all new adventures might not be so scary and some things might even be fun. She loves attention from humans and did well meeting another pup at the shelter. Leash walking seems new to her, but so far she's getting the hang of it. She did fine in the crate for her transport. More on Little Miss Georgia as we learn more about her.

Jacey
Gender:
Female
Age:
9 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence and another dog
Happy girl just finding her way!
Jacey's tail will not stop wagging, even when she is uncertain! This girl has made tremendous progress in her foster home, but she can still be timid and unsure at times. She is a gentle kind soul who wants so much to be loved; she's continuing to work on being brave in order get the attention she seems to crave. Foster mom reports she is happy girl despite her past and loves to stand quietly and be petted. Her favorite thing however, is playing with her best friend, the resident dog! They love to wrestle and run about in the yard. Jacey is so excited to see her friend every morning. She will need a home with another dog who is just as playful and confident as her newest friend. Jacey sleeps on a dog bed at night, and is both house-trained and crate-trained. In fact she loves her crate, since she realized it means treats...she will just run right in and wait! Jacey needs a quiet home in a more rural area for her to be her most relaxed self. Foster tells us that as long as her new family can be patient with this sweet gal, and has a canine buddy for her to romp with, she will be a sweet and easy addition to their lives. Jacey is considered hospice due to the malignant growth in her mouth, but she doesn't know she's sick. Jacey is on the smaller side for a Lab, so if you're looking for a pocket-size Lab, she'll be a great fit! If you'd like to give a good girl all the love, come meet Jacey today!

Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Jaunty Jethro
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIORS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS ONLY $125.
Jethro is hoping he will have a rags to riches story! His recent story is sad as his owner passed away and a neighbor was coming to feed him. But now that he's come to Lab Rescue, Jethro knows his Beverly Hills is just around the corner. Jethro is proving to be a very happy camper at his foster home while he awaits a forever situation. He is a fantastic house guest that does not require a crate at any time. He loves the outdoors and does very well walking on a leash. Jethro maintains a youthful exuberance despite his age. He has a great energy level that can bring joy during play, and peace during calm. He does love a good nap after play, as do we all. The foster for this positive canine reports he has both a happy bark, and a resting smile. With that combination, how can Jethro not brighten up an adopters day? He needs a home with limited steps for those old man joints. He likes to walk around and explore outside. He's a friendly, very-good-boy who will make some family very happy. With loving care from a new family, Jethro will become a delicious chocolate anyone would crave!

Jiggy
Gender:
Female
Age:
6 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Playful pup!
After spending far too much time at the shelter, Jiggy has continued to do well in foster while living with multiple other dogs. She has stolen the heart of her current foster with her playfulness and personality. She understands a few basic commands, and shows a willingness to learn more. She also absolutely loves walks but will need continued help on a leash. Jiggy plays appropriately with other dogs and can live in a multi-dog home, but she does not require a canine companion. This sweet girl will thrive in an active home with adopters who have prior dog experience and feel comfortable managing a confident, vocal player. A fenced yard where she can run and play safely would be highly beneficial. With the right guidance and understanding, Jiggy will be a devoted, fun, and affectionate companion. She's a great dog! Jiggy did well with the training she just completed. She and her new family are entitled to a complimentary 7-week Good Manners Class at Peaceable Paws, LLC in Fairplay, MD for being part of the basic manners program! What a fun way to bond!

Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence and where he is the only dog in the home
Looking for love!
Handsome Kuma is a wonderfully affectionate young guy who loves everyone he meets and greets them with a wagging tail and a hopeful look! He’s incredibly smart, food-motivated, and loves to learn. This fun-loving, energetic young pup needs an active home where his people can keep up with his abundant energy. He would love a fenced back yard to chase squirrels and a porch where he can curl up with his human to watch the world go by. He is inquisitive and attentive, making him a great training partner and companion. Affectionate Kuma will reward you with lots of love and cuddles. Kuma does great with routines. He loves to walk the neighborhood each morning and now that he is familiar with the route and the dogs he encounters along the way, he hardly pulls at all. He sits very nicely and just observes things when asked to. He loves puzzle toys and chasing after balls. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and a big personality, Kuma might just be your perfect match. He wants to be your guy.

Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Lovely Layla!
Lovely Layla is an absolute gem. This gentle lady is looking for a new home after her owner passed away. She still has some spunk for her age and is a happy, affectionate gal. Foster mom says she is very easy going, and wasn't even bothered by the snow and ice. Layla LOVES everyone, human and canine alike, and is very adaptable to new situations and people. She would be very happy to be in a loving home with or without other dogs, as long as she has some company during the day. She loves cuddling and attention, naps on soft beds, and enjoys playing fetch and tug of war with toys! Layla would appreciate her new family throwing rugs or other covers on slick floors and would prefer a home without full flights of stairs. Though, she can handle a few steps. If you'd like a lovely gal in her Golden Years to fill your heart, come meet Layla today! She's an absolute delight.

These two currently reside with a foster who runs a doggy daycare, and they absolutely love the other dogs. They greet the humans at the gate, but their true desire is playing with their four-legged friends when they get a chance. Their foster says they settle down well and have a nice demeanor. Markie (nicknamed CiCi) and LJ (nicknamed Bubba) aren't super in your space snugglers, but they will sleep close to you. Their gorgeous eyes that used to be full of fear are now full of curiosity and understanding. Their next owner will spend years lost in those eyes!I Wouldn't you like to share your love and your home with this delightful duo? The reward of trust will melt your heart! 🖤

Mauls AKA Maui

Female
Age:
1 year
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home (fence negotiable)
As sweet as an island vacation!
Who needs island paradise when you can get cuddles from a girl like Maui (aka Mauls)? This girl loves to snuggle, which has become evident as she is settling into her foster. She also does well in her crate (door open or closed) and is doing well with potty training. When not snuggling up with her humans, Maui LOVES playing with her foster siblings. She is an energetic, fun girl who will need exercise and stimulation and would love a doggie friend to play with. Maui walks well on a leash, and is outgoing and friendly with people she meets. We will update more on this sweet girl as we continue to get to know her! Don't wait to reach out to your Adoption Coordinator about her!

Max #3
Gender:
Male
Age:
6 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Maximum cuteness!
Max is quiet-natured, gentle, and sweet. This young guy has made incredible progress since first arriving as a shy, shut-down stray. With patience, structure, and the company of friendly dogs, he’s truly blossomed into a happy, affectionate boy who loves to play and be part of the pack. He has warmed up to people and actively seeks out petting now. Max adores other dogs and would love a confident canine friend in his new home to help him continue to build confidence. He’s a smart, sensitive, and thoughtful pup who just needs a little patience as he continues to learn the world is a safe and fun place. Currently, he is fostered alongside Ruby #2, and the two have done very well together - Max takes the lead and seeks out social interaction, while the relationship provides them both confidence and stability. They could be a wonderful "together" placement for someone looking to adopt two dogs! With just a little time and love, he’s going to be an incredibly loyal, loving companion to one lucky family.

Murphy
Gender:
Male
Age:
4 years 6 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence (will climb a 4-foot fence)
Mild-mannered Murphy
We keep learning so much about our wonderful Murphy. Murphy has quickly adjusted to the schedule of his foster home, and waits patiently for the times of day when he can get out side to potty or run and play. He does love to play with the resident dog, and we think he’d enjoy having another playful pup in the house, though it isn’t necessary. He wants to please, and has been very receptive to the training his fosters have tried with him. His new people will need to be committed to helping him learn the rules at his new home in time, and building on the strides he's made in foster in terms of listening and commands. He's generally a pretty low maintenance guy in the house, and has a more reserved personality. He's not a dog who will bowl you over with excitement and affection when you get home, but he is always happy to see his humans. Murphy is strong on leash, and interested in squirrels. He’ll need a strong handler for walks. Murphy has also consistently done very well with visitors and welcomes company to his home. He will be a great fit for a home where the humans are ready to help him learn the routine, provide enough exercise, and are committed to helping build on his learning and commands! This guy is a gem, and the right family will be so very lucky to have him.

Nova #2
Gender:
Female
Age:
12 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving home with few stairs
Beautiful Stellar Girl!
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.
Nova #2 is an absolute sweetheart! She is very low maintenance and really enjoys a soft spot. She has a couple dog beds she has an affinity for. She sleeps a lot of the day and then peacefully through the night on her dog bed in the bedroom. She really enjoys wandering in the yard and loves that the front yard of her foster home is fenced so she can wander and lounge and check out all the new smells, returning when she is satisfied all is well. Nova is good with other dogs but can get knocked over by the younger ones, so she will do best in a home without rambunctious pups. This lovely lady also needs a home with very few stairs, as she has age-related arthritis. She looks for a reward after being a really good girl (which is very often) and takes her treats very gently. Nova is just a sweet, easy-going, older girl looking for love and a soft spot to lay her head.

Ollie

Male
Age:
10 years
Good with:
Kids 8+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Gentle buddy!
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIORS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS ONLY $125.
Ollie would like for you to know that he is a very happy and good dog. He adores all people and dogs, his house manners are excellent, he has free reign of the house, and he is a joy to be around. Ollie loves to go for walks, play at the dog park, and most of all, snuggle with his people. Snacks and treats are also high on his list of favorite things. He would be happy having a canine sibling, but he is also good as an only dog. Ollie is pretty much perfect! Ollie does well on stairs and carpeted ones are preferred. He surely knows when it’s mealtime. Ollie would win the Olympic Gold Medal for sleeping - he’s a real couch potato!
