What's better than chocolate Teddy Grahams? Graham, the chocolate Lab who looks like a teddy bear! He's guaranteed to be more delicious than the edible Grahams and a lot more fun. There's no history on him since he was a stray, so we are still getting to know him and will report more soon. He's looking forward to being in a home with his new family where they will hopefully share some love, affection, and, of course, treats. 

Hudson is an energetic, super friendly boy who loves to engage with people and explore new things. He loves treats, which capture his attention and motivate him to learn. He is still young at heart so he can get distracted by toys, sounds and activity but quickly responds to his name being called and those tasty treats. Hudson's enthusiasm to learn is fun, engaging, and a joy to witness. He loves walks and has a natural curiosity of the world around him. With continued guidance he responds to polite walking cues and again those tasty treats. He will greatly benefit from regular exercise and even mentally stimulating toys; he is a high energy guy who will need plenty of daily exercise. Walks alone are not enough. Hudson has a playful personality and will make a delightful companion for his new family.

Inky/Rappahannock from the River litter is a typical sweet, friendly, bouncy adolescent pup. He was adopted as a tiny puppy, but came back to us when his adopters weren't able to care for him. Like any young pup, he needs adequate exercise and stimulation to help him burn his daily energy. He loves to chew toys, so having many appropriate options available is a must. He is crate trained and knows some basic commands. He is very food motivated which will continue to help with training. Inky loves car rides and playing with a tennis ball in the house. This little Lab mix is looking for his forever home.

Sweet, gentle Jacey has really started to come out of her shell. She’s still a bit timid, but she’s such a happy girl. When the mood strikes, she’ll join in playtime; and when she’s done, she’s perfectly content relaxing in her crate or curled up in her bed. She travels beautifully in the car and is truly such an easy, delightful dog to have around. Her favorite thing is playing with her best friend, the resident dog! They love to wrestle and run about in the yard.  She will need a home with another dog who is just as playful and confident as her newest friend. Although she may never be a super cuddle-bug and will startle if you move too quickly in the house or yard, she is a gentle, kind soul who wants so much to be loved, she's continuing to work on being brave in order get the attention she seems to crave. Jacey is considered hospice due to the malignant growth in her mouth, but someone forgot to tell her. Her zest for life is contagious! Her tail does not stop wagging!

Jerry is a very friendly and outgoing young lab.  He enjoys running outside and will retreive balls and toys forever if you let him. Jerry also loves swimming and riding in the car.  He really likes playing with other dogs. Jerry knows the sit, and down commands and is working on come and stay..  Jerry is also working on his leash manners. He willingly spends the night in a crate. Jerry would very much like an active family who would run and play with him.

Jodie and Ginger are a dynamic bonded duo and must be adopted together. This mother (Jodie) and daughter (Ginger) pair came from a breeding farm. It's unknown how many litters they had. Ginger absolutely cannot live without her mom but still tries to push her boundaries like a lot of daughters do to their moms! Ginger will try to be the boss and push Jodie out of the way to get attention and eat some of her food.They both walk nicely on lead. They have never lived in a house and have not been exposed to indoor living so they will need a patient family who will allow them time to adjust. These lovely ladies are super friendly and easy going. They both love hugs! Jodie and Ginger are looking forward to the luxuries of living in a warm, cool, secure home with lots of comfy, squishy beds and reduced-calorie treats after all these years.

Adorable Kobe is a friendly goofball who likes to be on the move. He’ll keep you on your toes - unless he’s sitting on your lap. Kobe loves balls and takes ball security very seriously. He loves fetch and is a pro at it. Car rides? Let’s go! Being brushed? Oh, yes please! A game of tug? Anytime! He's the undefeated champ – in a loving way. He was very good with the dogs he played with at the shelter and has been good with the resident pup. He also met a cat at the shelter and seemed fine. The cat didn’t run, but Kobe also didn’t treat kitty like a stuffy – so he might be ok with a dog-savvy cat. He’ll bark at you to play and then go entertain himself – he just wants to be certain you are watching him so you can tell him ‘good boy’! He’s emotionally independent but would also love a playmate! Kobe is the most enthusiastically, chaotically, whole-heartedly loving, loable dog you will ever meet… or adopt. I know you’re thinking about it!

But if you love dogs with big personalities, endless enthusiasm, and a zest for life that’s impossible to ignore, Kuma just might be your perfect match. Kuma is a wonderful, funny, highly engaging dog with a great deal to offer the right home. He is a super handsome, bright, affectionate pup, who is very interested in interacting with the world around him. He has a BIG personality, loves people, forms relationships readily and enjoys attention from his humans. Kuma is house trained and can be crated when necessary, but would not appreciate being crated for large portions of the day. He is capable of relaxing around the house but is always ready to pop up if something interesting ishappening. Kuma is not a dog who needs to be persuaded to participate with his people; his bigger challenge is learning to regulate his excitement and enthusiasm. Kuma’s ideal home is a relatively calm and predictable household with a secure fenced yard. If you enjoy living life with your dog instead of simply owning one, Kuma would love to meet you.

Leo is so excited to meet you, your family, your friends, your neighbors, and your second cousins twice removed. He adores human company and is impossibly friendly. Leo got a chance to spend some time at a basic manners camp, and his trainer raved about what a gem this guy is. He told us, “If you're looking for a loyal sidekick, adventure buddy, snack enthusiast, and professional good boy, have we got the dog for you! Leo is an active dog who loves long walks, hiking, exploring new places, and sniffing absolutely everything worth sniffing. He would do exceptionally well at scent games, and scavenger hunts. He's very food motivated, very smart and motivated to learn new things. Among other things, he's covered sit, down, recall, spin, and nice leash walking, and had recently started learning how to crawl.” Leo is that lovely combination of affectionate and independent. He loves getting attention and spending time with people, but is also perfectly happy exploring the world, sniffing around, and investigating life's mysteries on my own in his fenced yard. His trainer reiterates that Leo is sweet, smart, and eager to please, not to mention loving, adventurous, funny, trainable, and ready to be someone's best friend. Someone looking for a devoted companion will hit the jackpot with this guy! 

Luna (female, 5 years) and Sugar Bear (male, 4 years) are looking for a home together so they can continue life as a bonded pair after losing the only home they've ever known. They are house- and crate-trained. Though they are used to living inside they do take a minute to get used to new doorways and flooring. After a good explore, it will seem as though they've always been there. Luna loves a good belly rub and will tumble over the moment you get near her. We call it the belly rub tax. Sugar Bear is a handsome boy who is quite appropriately named. He will shower you with sweetness the moment he meets you. They are strong on leash as they have spent most of their lives in a fenced yard so a physical fence is preferred in their new home but not required. If you are looking for the sweetest pair imaginable call your Adoption Coordinator and ask to meet them.

Maddie (FKA Prada) is a fun, affectionate little girl who forms a deep bond with her trusted humans. She enjoys running, playing and zooming around the yard and thrives on interactive play with her humans. She has good house manners, is house trained and crates beautifully. She is a gentle leash walker and has a nice off-switch once her exercise needs are met. Maddie is very social with people she knows and trusts, but she retains some of her original shyness and uncertainty with strangers. She would prefer not to be pressured into interaction and does best when strangers (new visitors to her home, for example) ignore her and allow her to observe and approach on her own terms. As her confidence has increased in foster with our trainer, so has her interest in developing canine friendships. She enjoys interacting and playing with other dogs and likely would enjoy living with a calm, compatible dog, but doesn’t really need one.

The world of sweet Markie and Lil Joe continues to get better everyday. There has been tremendous positive change for these two over the last few months. Lil Joe has no trepidation about humans and will greet you to say hello. Markie still likes treats to say hello, and will stick around for pets too. These two currently reside with a foster who runs a doggy daycare, and they absolutely love the other dogs. They greet the humans at the gate, but their true desire is playing with their four-legged friends when they get a chance. Their foster says they settle down well and have a nice demeanor. Over time, they have grown to love snuggles with humans as much as they like to cuddle with each other - they will sleep like one doggy pretzel all tangled together! Their gorgeous eyes that used to be full of fear are now full of curiosity and understanding. Their next owner will spend years lost in those eyes!! Truly, the strides they have made in trusting not only their foster mom, but any human that might come their way, have been astonishing. Wouldn't you like to share your love and your home with this delightful duo? The reward of trust will melt your heart!

Max is a very happy and friendly pup. Everyone he meets is his immediate best friend. He thinks he should be right next to you or, better still, in your lap, being petted. Max loves to go outside to explore the yard and play with other pups. He takes treats gently and rides nicely in the car. Max will be a wonderful addition to a family that will give him the attention, training and exercise he deserves. He's a good boy!

Missy is a sweet girl who loves to play and adores all humans. While waiting for a foster or forever home at the kennel, Missy got to have a little trick or treating sniff spot adventure. She loved it—especially the part where she found the treats. She had a great time playing with her best bud Stella and she did well making friends with new dogs. More on this sweet girl once she moves to foster. She is on the smaller side at 50 pounds with a beautiful white coat and soft beige ears.
