SENIORS

Important Notes:

  • Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Chappy is a star!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Sweet Chappy (short for Charlie Chaplin) is such a great dog! He is so sweet and easy going, and he absolutely loves people. He seems to have an affinity for men and thinks the man in the house is the best cuddle buddy. Though an older gentleman, he is still quite active and spry. He loves to go outside to play and chase the ball if you throw it for him. He knows he's not as fast as the younger dogs, but he's ok with that. Chappy's adorable frosted face adds to his character and speaks to the adventures he's had in his life thus far.  He's a great companion!

Eleanor

Gender:

Female

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence and only dog in the home

Need a listening ear?

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE FOR BLOSSOM IS $125.

Eleanor is an affectionate girl who loves being around her humans. She can usually be found in the

same room as her foster parents, napping close by during the work day and watching TV with them at night. She has great house manners and is as low maintenance as they come, happy to go for a few walks a day and then have her toy tossed around for a few minutes. She is very smart and is learning even more commands. She listens intently and likes to tilt her head and wag her tail during training. She loves to lounge on her blanket in front of the fire and dearly loves to be bundled up in a quilt on really cold days. However, her absolute favorite pastime is napping right up next to someone, ideally with her head on their lap. Eleanor will make someone a wonderful companion or be a fabulous addition to a family with older children. This easy-going girl enjoys a quieter home, calm walks, and loves her routines. She is devoted to her people, incredibly easy and happy, and an absolute pleasure. Eleanor really is a delight, waking up each morning with tail wags and Lab-leans, just happy to start another day.

Mellow Fellow

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Sweet gentleman Moss is looking for a place to snooze and practice his mellow lifestyle. This senior has a bit of achiness in his legs so a house with limited stairs would be best. But, he can make those legs work when he's around cats, so no kitties for this fellow. Moss is super gentle and has excellent house manners. He's very calm and low energy and just wants a home to call his own.
