Transporting

We are always in need of transporters to help us get dogs to and from vets, shelters and foster homes. You need not volunteer on any regular basis – we post our transport needs to our volunteers and they raise their hands whenever they can help. Some folks can volunteer on weekends only – others are working from home or retired and can help during the week.

The ideal transport vehicle can hold multiple dogs (because the dogs are under stress, we always separate them by having one dog loose and any others crated). You will need to have your own collars and leashes (Martingale collars are especially good because the dogs can’t slip them) to use in the transport process.

Our “hitchhikers” are usually charming and delightful guests, but some are scared and bark and once in a while a dog will “mark” your car or get carsick, so be prepared! This is very rewarding work and you can volunteer according to your own schedule.

Join our devoted team of transporters by calling our Lab Line at 301-299-6756.
